Jason Paul Tate is a director, choreographer, performer, and special effects designer. He loves creating abstract and deconstructed depictions of violence, and is passionate about consent-forward, radically inclusive theatre-making. 

Tate has been an educator for over a decade and currently serves as the Professor of Movement at the FSU/Asolo Conservatory. He has also taught and choreographed productions for The New School, New York Film Academy, Hofstra University, Florida State University, Austin Peay State University, University of Memphis, University of Kentucky, University of Central Florida, University of North Carolina-Charlotte, Berea College, Transylvania University, Texas A&M University Corpus Christi and the University of North Carolina School for the Arts.

He is the current Vice President of the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD), as well as a Certified Teacher and recognized Fight Director. Jason has taught at the National Stage Combat Workshop, the Stage Combat Workshop at Louisiana Tech, the A-Town Throwdown, the Texas Intensive and the Lonestar Smash. He is also the co-founder of Neutral Chaos, LLC, a movement solutions company offering classes in New York City, and producer of both the annual Tourist Trap Stage Combat and Stunt Workshop and the New York Summer Sling.

Jason sits on the advisory board for the Connecticut Theatre Exchange and is a proud member of the Stage Directors And Choreographers Society (SDC) and Actors’ Equity Association (AEA).
